Legal
Terms of Use
Last updated September 2026. These terms apply to everyone using HEPP during the Basingstoke beta.
First draft for the Basingstoke beta. Highlighted items still need real details filling in and this wording has not been reviewed by a solicitor.
Who we are
HEPP is operated by [insert legal operator name], [insert postal/business address if required], [insert company number if HEPP operates through a limited company]. You can reach us at [insert final support email].
What HEPP is
HEPP is a platform that connects homeowners with independent local tradespeople. Homeowners post a job, matching tradespeople can express interest, and the two sides agree the work between themselves.
HEPP does not carry out any work. We are not the employer, contractor, agent or subcontractor of any tradesperson, and we are not a party to the agreement you make with each other.
Tradesperson responsibilities
- You are responsible for your own quotes, pricing and the standard of your workmanship.
- You are responsible for holding the qualifications, registrations, certifications and insurance your work requires.
- You are responsible for your own tax, self-employment and other legal obligations.
- You must only take on work you are competent and legally permitted to carry out.
Agreeing a job
Homeowners and tradespeople are responsible for agreeing the scope, price, timing, materials, access and any other details of a job. Availability shown on HEPP is indicative only and is not a confirmed appointment.
Please use the HEPP booking flow to record accurately when work has been agreed. It is what tells us a job is going ahead, and it is what allows contact details to be shared between you.
Using the platform properly
- Give genuine information about yourself, your business and your job.
- Do not impersonate anyone, or post jobs you do not intend to go ahead with.
- Do not use HEPP for anything unlawful, abusive, discriminatory or misleading.
- Do not scrape, resell or misuse other people's information from the platform.
Privacy of contact details
Contact details and exact addresses stay private until the booking process allows them to be shared. Until a booking is confirmed, tradespeople see only the postcode area and roughly how far away a job is. Please keep conversations on HEPP until then.
Reviews
Reviews must relate to genuine jobs booked through HEPP. Only the homeowner who booked the job can review it, and tradespeople can reply publicly. We may remove reviews that are fake, abusive or unrelated to the work.
Removing accounts and content
We may suspend or remove accounts, jobs, reviews, photos or messages where we consider it necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal reasons or misuse of the platform.
Cost
HEPP is currently free for homeowners and free for tradespeople during the Basingstoke beta. There is no subscription charge at the moment. A paid plan is a possible future option, and if we introduce one we will tell you clearly before anything changes.
Beta service
HEPP is in beta. Features may change, be added or be removed, and the service may not always be available. We provide HEPP as it is and do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as HEPP develops. Questions about these terms can go to [insert final support email]. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
